Phase 1: With the genetic material necessary for producing EPO to hand, you'll be invited to perform translation in order to obtain the protein. With the help of the computer you'll then check if you've obtained the desired protein and will know if the genetic material is fit for purpose. 

Once you've done that you can move onto phase 2. You'll need to save your DNA sequence for phase 2.

Would you like to help Pepe cure his anaemia? In this game you'll be producing EPO, a protein which helps in the formation of red blood cells and can therefore be used as a drug to treat anaemia.

There are three parts to the game: ensuring the DNA is correct, synthesising the protein and then selecting the right organism for producing the drug. It is perfect for finding out more about the characteristics of animal, plant and bacterial cells, as well as protein synthesis.
