Did you know that HIV infection is the second leading cause of death among adolescents globally? And that this infection already affects more than 36 million people in the world of which more than one million die each year? Today, December 1, is the world day of the fight against AIDS. Xplore Health offers you educational resources to work with this topic in class.
What is HIV and what is its replication cycle? How is it transmitted? How does HIV infect us and how do existing drugs work to control the infection? All the answers to these questions can be found in the multimedia resources of the module "Towards AIDS eradication" of the portal. Among other resources, the module contains a video game to test your knowledge about HIV, introductory videos on research projects for the development of an effective vaccine and new therapeutic strategies to combat resistance; a virtual experiment to understand how the HIV vaccine is being developed and resources for reflection on the ethical, legal and social aspects that revolve around this pathology.
The Xplore Health programme also organise face-to-face activities on the subject, such as an experimental workshop, which is offered by the different clusters that the project has at national level, as well as a participatory days to raise awareness and scientific updating offered from eduCaixa within the IrsiCaixa Divulgació Programme.
