How can we teach cancer research in class? New blended learning course

On September 12, secondary school teachers of Catalonia will be able to register to the new Xplore Health blended course on cancer, which will start on the October 24 combining online and face-to-face activities.

The course provides scientific update sessions leaded by researchers in this field, a hands-on workshop where teachers will practice with ELISA, and a wide variety of multimedia tools, discussion games and protocols of experiments to bridge the gap between the current cancer research and the classroom. IrsiCaixa, “la Caixa” Banking Foundation and the Department of Education of Catalonia jointly organize this course with the collabortaion of the Institute of Biomedical Research of Barcelona (IRB).

Participants will enjoy a full program with presentations by experts like Dr. Elena Sancho (Institute of Biomedical Research of Barcelona), Dr. Marc Masa (Leitat Technological Center) or the Professor of Cell Biology at the Autonomous University Barcelona Josep Santaló, which will promote debate on the ethical, legal and social aspects of cancer research. Participants will also have the opportunity to take part in an experimental workshop with the ELISA technique, within the context of the cancer research.
