Registrations open to the course "Research on cancer in the classroom" for teachers of Granada

The educational program Xplore Health, jointly promoted by IrsiCaixa and "La Caixa" Banking Foundation, brings current cancer research to secondary school teachers in Andalusia, through the new course "Investigación sobre el cáncer en el aula" (research on cancer in the classroom). The Xplore Health project and the Park of the Sciences of Granada jointly organizes it, in collaboration with the Teachers' Centers of the Province of Granada. Registration is still open and it is available on the Granada CEP website: http://ow.ly/vlpr30gJ0FR

The course will take place at the Park of the Sciences of Granada on November 28 and 29, 2017 and January 16 and 17, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. High school teachers will receive a scientific update and training in didactic innovation. During the course, they will use the multimedia resources that the 'Xplore Health' program offers to bridge the gap between biomedical research on cancer and education.

Participants will work with multimedia tools that encourage cooperative work and gamification in the classroom, will use card games to encourage debate about ethical issues in the classroom and will test educational multimedia resources on different types of cancer, available at the educational portal of Xplore Health. A hands-on workshop on a basic genetic test will be the closing session of this course.
